The new home construction industry continues to face an ongoing battle with skills shortage and as more baby boomers retire and take their lifetime of skills with them, we’re doing everything possible to help train up the next generation of tradies.
We’re proud to be part of an innovative partnership with MEGT (Australia) and Stockland, which was established to create an apprenticeship and traineeship program that will deliver employment opportunities and affordable housing options within the City of Casey.
The project has also had the support of the Victorian Government and it commenced earlier this year and involved the selection and employment of 16 apprentices and trainees as part of the pilot program within Stockland’s Selandra Rise residential community in Clyde North.
The apprenticeship and traineeship program is one of many unique programs at Selandra Rise. A blueprint for future residential communities, Selandra Rise features a number of planning principles designed to improve residents’ lives: the most diverse mix of affordable housing in Australia; a broad range of local employment choices; easy access to schools and shops; and substantial social and sporting facilities, including open space within 300 metres of every home.
We’ve also just opened a brand new portfolio of display homes at Selandra Rise, including new designs, the Randwick and Montague as well as three new designs from the Lifestyle range including the Oakdale, Ashdale and Marbella.
