The Astor 49 at Marriott Waters

Deliberately daring, the double storey home design –  The Astor 49 at Marriott Waters features an ultra modern exterior and edgy Bondi Beach inspired interior, it’s a look you won’t find in high-end displays.

The Astor takes the best of the Astor Grange design – like the spectacular soaring double storey void, ensuites to every bedroom and deluxe kitchen – and reduces it to a 49 square footprint by not building over the garage.

The ultimate double storey home design

This home is self-assured and confident with large expanses of marble surfaces, sleek cabinetry, contemporary light fittings and plenty of inky tones that make this home stand out.

Through the double door entry and sitting at the front of the home is the first of four living spaces – the lounge with an open study. The sheer size and openness of this zone makes an incredible first impression.

Positioned away from the heart of the home, it’s a secluded spot that’s more adult oriented be it for a dose of “me time” or to relax with after-dinner drinks with friends. With the adjoining study, it’s also a remarkable place to host important client meetings if you work from home.

In the foyer, the wide spotted gum flooring leads to a cool, open staircase decorated with an indoor garden of green below. Sitting behind this is the powder room with shower, supersized laundry and mud room with double door closet, which is cleverly connected to the garage and off the main living zone. Located near the garage makes this area a magnet for schoolbags, coats and shoes. So the mud room is designed to keep the clutter contained.

The rear of the home is given over to modern family living with a light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining and family area. The family room is a showstopper with its awe-inspiring double storey void and bank of windows that drenches the space in sunlight. This is where this double storey home design really shines!

Being open plan, the deluxe kitchen is as beautiful as it is functional. Nothing is missed in this kitchen with nearly 13m of bench space, an oversized island bench, a bi-fold servery window and a generous galley and walk-in-pantry.

It’s also been carefully conceived to ensure less-stressed parents with the ability to organise meals while observing the children in the family room, home theatre, at the dining table or in the pool.

A bank of three windows in the family room offer pool views and more daylight, in addition to the light that already flows through from the double storey home design void. It also features a glazed triple-stacker glass door that connects the family room to the undercover alfresco so the two come together to feel like one big room – guaranteed to keep you outside all year long.

Upstairs, you’re greeted with a generous sized rumpus room that could be affectionately nicknamed the ‘PJ lounge’. With the bedrooms all located upstairs, it makes the ideal spot for the family to come together and relax in their PJs to watch TV at the end of the day.

The hotel-style master suite, complete with a no-holds-barred ensuite, double walk-in-robes, retreat and balcony, is positioned next door to bedrooms two and three making them the ideal bedrooms for babies and younger children, while bedroom four at the opposite end of the upper level suits an older teenager or visiting family and friends.

The double storey void continues to impress from upstairs creating an immense sense of space as well as a great view to the pool and downstairs. The light from the void fills the second storey with daylight and warmth, which isn’t always found in double storey home designs of this size.
