From the ground up! – Colour Selections

20 August 2011 - 6 min read

Steve and Kate are building the Lisbon at Saltwater Coast and we’re following their journey.

Today they talk us through their colour selection process including upgrades.

How did you find the colour selection process? What are your tips for making the process enjoyable?

The colour, tiles and electrical selections were great, something I didn’t expect at all!

The interior design consultants were fantastic at taking our ideas and general themes and showing us how we could tie it in with our interior and exterior. We didn’t feel any pressure to make upgrades, and we found the base selections to be terrific in most cases.

We had plenty of upgrades included as part of our promotion anyway, so we were really satisfied that we got value for money. The consultants really made the best use of our budget and gave us excellent advice.

What upgrades did you know you wanted to include and did you get them?

We had our heart set on the alfresco upgrade as soon as we saw it in the Lisbon display home. It really tied the whole open plan living design together and gave the home a little bit of ‘wow’. It will also take the pressure of me needing to get stuck into the backyard landscaping!

We also upgraded our garage door as the wood-look colours really fitted in beautifully with our colour scheme and we think will add a little bit of class.

Our Neighbourhood house & land package had a bunch of extra stuff included such as front landscaping, driveway, and fencing, which is fantastic. We will literally just have to move in and hang some curtains.

Anything else you would like to add?

So far, the process has been excellent. I am a bit of optimist and like to think the builders will do a professional job, but I am expecting a few hurdles and mistakes to occur.

On a project the size of building a house, I think this is normal. I am also confident that a builder with the status of Porter Davis will be there to fix and resolve any problems should they occur.
